Not a big Yujin SR girls collections fan as you might known. However when I take a peek at the line up for the 2nd edition to the Sega Gals Collection, Elwing, the elven archer from the RPG game, "Shining Tears", I was totally smitten & really considering my option whether to just get a loose piece or a complete set. Luckily Toy Room brought in a large stock for their gacha fair in March 2005 and managed to get a loose Elwing from Kiddo from Katoots & a loose Hibana from "Kunoichi (NightShade)" from graphicleo.

Elwing

"Shining Tears" is a sequel to the hugely popular RPG-action series from Sega, called "Shining Force". Released in April 2004 for the PS 2 console, this game is sure to set another whole new benchmark for this ongoing RPG series. Elwing is the main heroine of Xion's troop. Originated from the Forest Kingdom, this 117 years old hunter joins Xion's mission when our resident hero saved her from a life-threatening injury. 

A really stunning piece which at any single day beat plenty of trading figurines that require twice or thrice the price of this 200¥ gashapon figurine. (Especially the Yamato series) Standing a a stunning 10 cm, the manufacturers are considerate enough to break the assembly pieces up so that parts like the bow would not be warped. Elwing's face is really nicely sculpted and that wink sure manages to mesmerize plenty of fan-boys. The details on her costume to that wings on her head to the bow to the belt with pouch, around her waist are all done to close perfection; and this was complimented with a nice and soothing paintjob. However the sculpt left a lot to be desired. Firstly Elwing could not stand up straight because of a heavier upper torso, leaning backwards. To mend it, one has to adjust the right leg backwards for support, which actually looks nice as well. Many parts could not hold properly together like the pair of head wings as well as the bow.

Hibana

Hibana is the sleek and ninja heroine of "Kunoichi", the sequel of the cult fave "Shinobi" series on the PS2 console. Hibana was called upon to destroy hordes of Hellspawns newly awakened by the curse of Akujiki that torment the city of Tokyo. You can read a comprehensive review of the game here. 

I was actually interested in this piece because of Hibana with ninja mask looks pretty sleek indeed. I must admit Hibana's costume and weapons design are pretty nice and should suit the character on the game perfectly, however that awkward pose should not even to be allowed to be made into actual figurines. Looking at my pictures, it is clear that Hibana could never balance nicely on its own without the application of some adhesive. The face is really horrendous, thus it's so fortunate that they include the nice mask-on headpiece.
