Eureka 7 as described at Anime News Network:
Renton is a 14-year old youth who occasionally helps out his grandfather as a mechanic. But his feelings of dissatisfaction and frustration grows as his mundane and routine work clouds his visions for his future and he dreams of flying around the world. It isn't until one day, a large human-like mech falls from the sky in front of young Renton and appearing from the depths of the machine is a beautiful young girl named Eureka. And as she asks the dumbfounded Renton for repairs, the two will embark upon a fantastic journey into the unknown.

This new mecha-based anime from Bones Production, sure is getting good reviews all over, and should be as highly regarded as their predecessors, "RaXephon". I bought this set after seeing the nice preview on some toy magazine and I was not disappointed of the real deal at all!

Renton

The lead character and hero of the tale which is pure-hearted lad, always seeking for adventures away from his mundane life on Gekkostate.

Really nice skate-boarding piece which reminds me of Horo Horo from "SR Shaman King Part 2" as well as the piece from "Detective Conan Scenario Figure". I love the pose and the facial sculpt which was done close to likeness of the character from the animated series. The sculpt is perfect with the hover-board fixed nicely on a movable support pole while the paintjob is soothing yet clean.

Eureka

The genius rider of LFO (Light Flying Operation) of Gekko State bears a mysterious ability which makes her a well-wanted fugitive of her former employers, the U.F. Force.

The least appealing human characters in this set sees Eureka sitting nicely on an alien-style stone seat. The pose is pretty unique and the general design of Eureka draws much reference to the animated form. However I don't really like the paintjob finishing for her hair as well as her pink eyes, which made her look really out of this world. I also find her facial features like her nose and her chin a bit too sharp. The stone seat is a nice accessory but the color is dull.

Talho

The smart and articulate partner of the leader of "Moonlight", Holland. An effervescent character in Gekkostate who is a model for a local magazine. She managed to establish a strong bond with Eureka which left both Holland and Renton baffled at times.

I'm sure a hot fave for many collectors like myself. This piece totally exudes the sexiness that can only be linked with Talho. The details on her is so intricate and draws total reference from her character design in the animated series, things like the purple holster on her thigh, her waist pouch, the nice looking boots. Really like the metallic box as her base as well.

Holland

The leader of "Moonlight" is a former champion of "World's Amatuer Lift Competition" as well as an Ace in the Special Operation Force in the military. This charismatic hero is a cult figure in Gekkostate..

Really like the facial sculpt of Holland which is really well done with that hazel-colored hair as well as the slanting blue eyes as he try to listen to his headphone, really exudes charisma as the residential hero. The body is a bit long though and the black and white sweat-suit is not that nice. I love the belt and boots and feel the support excels in holding the lanky Holland but should be in the usual transparent form.

Nirvash Type Zero

This Eureka's LFO which plays a crucial role in the anime, is made in such small size as compared to the human characters much like in the case for "HG Godannar" and "HG Sousei no Aquarion". Not too bad a piece as the mecha adopts Renton's boarding pose. Not too into the design and the color tone is too mundane to excite me. The tilting of the base results in this piece keep toppling forward.

Final Rating:

Perhaps the best HG series from Bandai for the 1st half of 2005, and looks set to be the most well-made one for the entire year.
