I had managed to catch around 50 episodes of this popular anime series, meant to target for children but I was quite stunned at times on how "dark" some of the storyline can be, much like when "Harry Potter" went beyond what innocent kids should be subjected to. One interesting note is that the voice actress for the adorable Gash Bell is none other Ikue Otani (大谷 育江) who is also responsible for Tony Tony Chopper of "One Piece" and of course Pikachu, talking about seiyuu with that distinctive adorable voice, she is 2nd to none. |

Gash BellThe lead character of the series in his spell-bound mode, ready to unleash one of his several spells learnt from his red spell book. I think they had ran out of design for Gash as this is just slight modification to the "Lauguruku version" of himself from Part 1 without that yellow iris within his eyes this time round of course. I wouldn't mind seeing the playful Gash Bell disguising as one his carrier bags-costumes so that Kiyomaru would bring him along to school.

KyanchomeOne of Gash's usual companion in battle though there's much limitations what he could accomplish. A very serious looking Kyanchome as compared to sorry-looking chap from the Part 1. Kyanchome and his owner, Parco Folgore, the Italian heart-throb are a pair of laughter-inducing characters in the series but I'm not really entertained by this plain Kyanchome figurine here, sad to say.

Umagon (Shield Look Ver.)Gash's buddy, Umagon (or originally is known as Schneider) supposedly found his destined owner and managed to reveal his powers within his orange spell book. One of them is a cool-looking spike armor he is adorned with here. Umagon does not looking as a quirky looking horse anymore and not to be easily trifled with with newly-discovered powers, perhaps his usual bickering partner, Kiyomaru should take note. From that serious look in his eyes, how much he had changed.

WonreiWonrei and his owner, Li Yen are perhaps the only pair of demon child/ owner relationship that blossomed into a romantic one. Originated from China, Li Yen's life has always been suppressed by her father who is a ruthless triad boss; all these changes when she met Wonrei who battled hard against Li Yen's father and his minions to win her liberty. Now the highly-skilled pugilist, Wonrei with the help of his owner cum lover, Li Yen will try his best to grab the crown of the demon king in their constant battles with other demon children scattered all over the world. The piece that least look alike from the original character as Wonrei is actually quite tall, like a usual teenager's height, unlike the "chibi" form of the likes of Gash, Kyanchome or Tio. That pair of listless eyes totally suppressed the charisma that supposed to surround him.

ReilaI don't really know the story behind Reila who appears only after episode 50. However it is said that she & her owner, Abel were being controlled to serve under the blind trust of the evil, Zofis. Eventually she put aside her own safety and help Gash and company to defeat Zofis. Looks like some kind of weird shaman or witch-doctor with her accessories like the tiny horns on her head, the ornamental necklace as well as the crescent staff which she may be use to summon rain or something.

PattyFell in love with Gash back in the demon world 1000 years back and her appearance was channeled to make our hero to remember which of course backfired as Gash totally lost all memories of his past. This incensed this jezebel who was enlisted by the evil Zofis in her quest to annihilate Gash and others. Not even remotely adorable which is perhaps why Gash is not too keen to remember her. She reminds me of those dancer from Spain or other countries of the Mediterranean countries but the way her hair is bundled up is totally absurd.

VictreemThe ravishing Victreem which is how he likes to be known is trying hard to be the best gentleman like demon child around. But under some bewitching spell (perhaps by Zofis), he was decimated into just a foolish and mindless henchman for the evil forces. Really weird looking entity which can easily assume the role of the spokesman mascot for products like "Vitasoy" or "Vitagen". It's is obvious that there's no way you can support Victreem on the base with his leg, thus a support rod was needed. It looks like you can spin him as a top with the way his feet is designed.

ZofisThe evil supremacist of the series who seems to cast her bewitching spell on may people and demon children to serve her cause including her owner, Koko who was supposedly to be the kind hearted good friend of Sherry, owner of Black. I think the creator drew a lot of reference from George Lucas' "Star Wars" series with the design of Zofis as she seemed like reincarnations of the Princess Amidala reprised by Natalie Portman. However this chibi Full Color version is much adorable looking like how the original Zofis was supposed to be.

This 2nd part of the full color series for Gash Bell is also the final part which is a pity as I would really like to see all the demon children been made into figurines with their respective spell books. |
