Bought this full set of Movable Kinnikuman at the same Kotobukiya shop in Nipponbashi as where I managed to scoop the 4 sets of loose Studio Ghibli Image Model. I had actually bought one set of the WF exclusive simplified edition (limited to 1200 sets) from the Medicos Entertainment counter in the event; but decided to give it up to a local Kinnikuman collector through La Tendo as I am contented with this set which I had first decided to get but no complete set can get me a good price of mere 2000 ¥ as in this case. |

KinnikumanAt first look, it's blatant that my Kinnikuman looks weird with his pose. He supposed to have his fist clenched as he did that body-building/ narcissist pose as seen on the cover of the packaging box. However my figurine is missing of the original hands and left with the hands in grasping form usually connected when he is doing his signature move, "Kinniku-buster!". Nonetheless the sculpt is pretty stunning despite the high number of articulation points and the paintjob still maintains the usual Medicos' "Neo Revolution" high quality trading figures style. The base is a stunning flame surrounded circle with his initial engraved on top. His facial expression sure looks whacky enough. It's too bad due to the way his arms are sculpted, he could only seriously adopt such a pose, thus quite crucial to have that original clenched fists.

Buffalo manBeside Kinnikuman's clenched fists, I am also unfortunate to be missing Buffalo man's base which is simply an uneven that made the clumsy nemesis of Kinnikuman stumble like a unbalanced giant. I had to utilise Kin's flame base to hold him nicely for this photo shoot. Actually I feel Buffalo man is one of the 2 most stably sculpted figurine (the other been Ramen man) in this side, it is just that awkward pose he is needed to adopt. The facial expression is really fitting as he suffered the brunt of been falling down with some embarrassment. His body can be well arched do be executed with "Kinniku-buster!" as seen above (not as nicely done as what the box depicts)

Robin MaskThis could be such a wonderful piece if not for the obvious problem of Robin Mask to lean sideward as the picture has shown. Robin's feet are been stably pegged onto the base but it's down to the poor sculpt that resulted the masked wrestler to tilt a bit to the left (make that tilt a lot). I also had difficulty making him fold his arms valiantly and proudly as he stood on his fallen opponent, Atlantis below him. The base is actually the charmer for this piece with a pathetic looking Atlantis and nice splashing water to show the force of Robin stepping onto of Atlantis. Seems like a continuation of the "End of the Water Duel" from a previous set.

WarsmanNo missing piece, no awkward pose, no problem? Guess again, it's sculpting problem faced this time with the whirlwind like base unable to support the weight of Warsman doing his distinctive finishing move and this piece tends to topple like a card tower. I have to apply blue-tac at the bottom of the base to finish the photo shoot. However the idea of the wind is pretty cool and Warsman looks really good, charging down from a certain height with his deadly "Wolverine" like claws.

Ramen manDefinitely saving the best for last. The final and my favorite piece of this set is the pugilist from the East, Ramen man (formerly Mongol man) riding an Oriental dragon among the cloud. A classic kung fu pose and most importantly very stably placed on the dragon which itself is very elegantly done and the cloud that streams around him is a greacollections179.htmt addition as well. In fact this dragon reminds so much of the secret piece of the "Legends of Dragons" set I have.

Not really a wonderful scoop as expected you might say; however I still think for that price it's a steal as despite all the flaws and missing pieces, this set still bears that certain high quality in terms of paintjob at the very least. |
