Bought this piece off the shelf of Tokyu Hands in Ikebukuro as I had found the design pretty interesting. This is based on the popular manga series from "Big Original Comic" magazine by artist, Saigan Ryouhei (西岸良平) about the lives of Japanese during the Showa period (60s to 70s). The people of Japan digs nostalgic, retro stuff, so this manga series is actually pretty well received. |

Meeting by the StoveThis is perhaps the piece I least wanted to get after the likes of the "Candy Shop" or the "Cigarette Shop". However it's still pretty okay as the 4 boys in this diorama sure makes this piece interesting. The clueless expression of the bald one, the miserable look of the one with red ball cap, the hanging mucus of the youngest member are all very nice features. This piece reminds me a lot of the movie I watched when I was younger "Stand by Me", starring Corey Feldman & the late River Phoniex.

An interesting vignette from Atsunaro which does not produce much shokugan a year but I feel their quality is still a bit better from the likes of Epoch. |
