Other Remarks:

Roughly half a year since the release of Vol. 1, Megahouse was prompt to continue riding on the increasing popularity of the anime series which should be into the 4th year by then. Personally I had only watched up till 90 plus episodes of the series thus a few scenarios shown in this volume looks baffling to me but this sequel looks in pole position to better its predecessor.

Modeller Keroro Gunsou

One of Keroro's penultimate passion in life has to be fixing up endless number of plastic models of Mobile Suit Gundam. It is well-known in many storylines when he misused a bulk of the earth conquest budget on his obsession and even devoted a large area of the HQ as a museum for his models. Here we see Keroro fully concentrated in shearing the individual parts for a brand new "plamo" he is working on. While you will have problem settling Keroro onto the shallow hole on the base, you will be well dazzled by the amount of details encircling the alien frog. Firstly you'll see the various tools like the shears, paint, brushes and sprayer required for his assembly. There are also stacks of manuals for Keroro studiously dig his head into. Other additional features such as the boxes of plastic models, tissue box and dustbin are nice additions.

FA Keroro vs Giroro

The first thing I notice about this vignette would be the actual size of Giroro which beside the Kaiyodo-Xebec Giroro. This Giroro Gosou is special in the sense that he is dressed in the traditional Japanese mythological "ghost" (oni) costume which includes the tiny horns on the head-dress. With aggression well-illustrated from the lines on his face, Giroro has successfully terminated a doppelganger version of his Sgt. most probably a failed invention from Kururu once again. A smaller-sized FA Keroro with a totally burnt-out head was seen at the rear and the difference in size is used to show the distance between the 2. The armor of the FA Keroro is well detailed and a gulf of a difference from Oni Giroro. The base has a nice blue tinge and the cracks and fissures are really realistic-looking.

FA Keroro vs Giroro

Wonderful Giroro

Another interesting vignette showing Giroro dolling himself, most probably to impress the item of his affection, Natsumi. Giroro with that Leopold-Victorian gentleman style blond curls which totally is unsuitable for the ruthless soldier known as Giroro supposed to be. However the usual skull logo as the hairclip helps us to have a foot into reality. The pristine white tuxedo is an attire we don't usually associate with Giroro as well but he carries it nicely here with a matching black bow, a coffee cup which he holds with grace and a rose on the breast which may be from the bouquet well hidden at his back. The only problem with Giroro has to be the instability of him on the base as he tends to slant to his left. The pink kitten which has a strong attachment to him since the day he picked her up doesn't look too happy about Giroro's sudden transformation. Giroro's signature tent is seen at his rear which is a perfect backdrop in this diorama.

Azumaya Koyuki & Dororo

Dororo, the last of the Keroro Army to appear in the TV series, was first shown with his owner cum mentor in ninjitsu on earth, Azumaya Koyuki who is a transferred student into Natsumi's class in school. Koyuki has always been strict with herself not to reveal her ninja persona but her way of life and speaking manner always become a dead give-away. Here we see Koyuki in her school uniform, apparently heading to school via the only transport mode she knows, ninja-style skyscrapers- scaling. Together with Dororo, Koyuki perched on a power pole quite evident in any Japanese neighborhood.  What I like about this piece is how the sculptor shows a section of the skyscraper and instantly you will know that the pair are on higher grounds. The buildings and the power pole are nicely made but I am not a big fan of Koyuki espcially her pose which doesn't make sense.

Space Sheriff Poyon & Kururu

Poyon is a space sheriff who makes cameo appearances now and then (very irritating ones at times), to capture some inter-galactic fugitives. In this case, Poyon seems to be on the trail of Kururu, seen here doing some hacking on his customized Apple i-Book. From the backdrop, it seems like Kururu is up to mischief in the same hot spring where the Hinatas quashed R Grey & 3M, but I can't be too sure. When I look at Poyon and her pose, it reminds me too much of Koyuki from above and I really don't fancy the whole bug-like feelers thing. What I really like here is Kururu and his little laptop which can be moved around and used for future own diorama.

Keroro's Troop (Animal Form)

Like Vol. 1, each vignette figurine in this set comes with a complimentary Keroro army and this time round we have the troop all donned in adorable animals' suits. Giroro of course was enraged to be put in that embarrassing pink bunny suit while I like Tamama's spotty cat suit, Kururu's traditional Japanese stork suit and Dororo's black bear suit with matching ninja head-dress. Each personnel comes with a special fruit which holds the figurine. My favorite is the orange persimmon that holds Dororo and the worst is that mushroom which Keroro stands on which simply can't balance the weight of Keroro in a dog suit.

Final Rating:

Evidently an improvement in quality of design from the first volume as this set has a strong focus on Giroro, my favorite Keron army.
