Tim Burton's "Nightmare Before X'mas" is still very gaining popularity years after its theatrical release years ago. Of course companies like Yujin and Run'A continue to churn out NBC products while collectors like myself keep appreciating their efforts. In this 3rd special of the NBC figure collection, we have a glimpse of X'mas Town which Jack terrorizes in the movie.

クリスマスタウンへの扉(The Door of X'mas Town)

A classic scene which see Jack shiftily crept into Christmas Town as curiosity got the better of him to turn the knob of the door which led to the festive village. One thing to note before proceeding is that full compliments to the sculptors to this set, all 4 vignettes are wonderfully crafted to form sound dioramas which is not a hassle to assemble unlike previous incarnations, yet not taking away the beautiful design this series is well known for. The skeletal figure of Jack has always been hard to fix in place in many instances but in this case with his feet pegged to the base and left hand holding on to the knob attached to the door, we have a Jack with a lot of mischief exuding from his face with pet dog, Zero joining him in his forbidden escapade. The door is splendidly crafted with a prominent X'mas tree carved onto it. The tower of presents could be the items which trigger Jack's curiosity if I am not wrong.

スヤスヤと夢の国?(Sleep Well & Sweet Dreams?)

In this vignette we see Jack kneeling by a bed where 4 elves were tucked deeply asleep as he wondered whether they had reached their dreamland. I couldn't recall what motive Jack is laboring over these Santa's helpers but he does look sincere in coaxing them to sleep. When I first assembled this piece, I was skeptical that Jack would kneel properly beside the bed but he actually did. The bed was a wonderful prop here with a back board with a hat-wearing phantom while in the bedpost, a mini X'mas tree. The 4 elves which differ from one another sure look comfy snuggling in the comforter on the bed.

ジャック と ヴァンパイア テデイ(Jack & Vampire Teddy)

When Jack took over the role of Santa Claus to terrorize the Christmas of children all over the world by unleashing his band of twisted toys. One of the morbid crew was a vampire teddy bear with a mouthful of fangs which he used to scare a couple of kids. However Santa Jack caught up with the critter and gave it a good spanking for all the unwanted terror. Another piece which surprised me on how secure the sculpt is. It's always amusing to see Jack in Santa suit especially how the beard hung from his orb-like face. I have no Vampire Teddy in my collection before, so it is refreshing to have him in this set. Other props like the gorgeous tree in the human world and the tiny chair do spice this up further.

ジャック と ぜんまいくま(Jack & Clockwork Bear)

The final piece sees Jack in a snowman suit and seen ushering the same elves he was cooing to sleep a while ago on a clockwork bear. Basically 2 separate entities to form this vignette. Once again our doppelganger expert, Jack surely fits the snowman get-up to a T and the tall hat and striped-handle umbrella are surely tribute to Dr. Seuss. The clockwork bear looks good as well as the turning key looks real. The elves look very unnaturally and surely uncomfortable on the bear though.

Final Rating:

Another excellent NBC Figure Collection and with subsequent releases, we can re-enact the entire movie.
