Located in the heartbeat of the central shopping district in Singapore, there's a heaven of fun and laughter where gashapons and other Japanese toys collectors gather. A pilgrim for all avid gashapons, candy toys and trading figures like yours truly. A cosy place where youclick for bigger picture will be kept updated of the new series been released and had a chance to mingle with the ever-hospitable staff of this shop duly called, "La Tendo" (Heaven of Fun).

Sandwiched between Peace Centre and the new Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), is a pristine white shopping cum residential complex, called Sunshine Plaza where La Tendo is situated. You would be guided by the shining light of the sun (Sunshine, get it?) to this heavenly place which is less than 10 minutes stroll from either Dohby Ghaut or Bugis MRT stations. Aligned along Bencoolen Street and Prinsep Link, Sunshine Plaza is also an ideal place for Singapore's anime and hobby "otakus" (fans) as it housed a manga, anime and associated merchandises store, a console game place and a couple of renowned garage kit and model shop.

So what can I find here you may ask. Top on the list gashapons, candy toys and trading figures of course! The staff put a lot effort putting their miniature figurines in accordance to their brand, type or genre. (Before I continue, I feel that the staff has given us customers a lot of respect and trust by displaying the figurines in such "transparent" & open manner, so that we can actually have a good look at the set before we decided to make the purchase; therefore I think it's only right as a responsible customer to respect their request for not touching the display figurines.)

As you make your first step into the shop, take a notice to your immediate right hand side.

Pokémon Battle Figurines

This is where the staff have placed their new arrivals all nicely displayed and beaming explicably under the strong spotlight, all the great details and fantastic paintwork vivid to your naked eyes. As you move inwards, this is where all the popular manga and anime based figurines are located, series from "Rurouni Kenshin", "Naruto", "Dragonball Z" and "Saint Seiya" all lined up to entice their prospective collectors. You might notice a little corner for the famous Re-ment food miniatures. After a whole column all dedicated to the ever increasing Dragonball figurines collections, the last display section is solely reserved for Gundam, Super Robots Wars and other associated collections.

Walking slightly backwards, turn around and discover a whole array of candy toys, all mint in sealed box (MISB), still fresh their respective inner boxes, waiting to be picked by their lucky buyer who hoped to get the specific he/she wants. This is where the excitement is brewing. Some of the series you could find is based from popular "sentai" (super force) features like "Abaranger" and "Hurricanranger"; "Kamen Riders", "Ultraman", "Dragonball" and "Neon Genesis Evangalion". There is a little corner around the pillar dedicated for Kamen Rider. As you make another left turn, you will spot some D.G.P and other girls series which is omni-popular with many male collectors. Tracing back, you will also find some exclusive prized items and some popular trading figure series from the Kotobukiya One Coin series.

Make a full turn you will find 3 more column of figurines display. On the far left, animals, dinosaurs and other natural critters that crawled the earth, all selling loose, a favourite for all National Geographic and Animal Planet fans. Inner column, you will spot some movie inspired candy toys like "Star Wars", "Alien" and "Star Trek". This is also where you will find some supernatural inspired series. On the far right, more anime inspired series. But I find the series here a bit more colourful and cheerful, from series like "One Piece", "Inuyasha", ".hack", "Capcom Girls", "Arale" etc.

Is buying all the series as a set my only option here when I only interested in one or two loose pieces? The answer pleasantly is no.

There are a lot of loose pieces around for scavenging collectors to purchase their favourite pieces from a particular series. Beside the candy toys section, you'll find a stainless steel shelf filled with loose pieces from popular candy toys series from various companies from K-T to Bandai to Kabaya to Glico to FiguaX. Happy scavenging, you are entitled to that as long as you don't make a mess. Apart from that, you can also find loose pieces hanging on hooks on this fence along the platform. One side you'll find plush Kamen Rider, "Hikari no go" trading stickers, and several loose pieces from series like Konami's "Wacky Races 2" and K-T's "Devil May Cry"; another side a whole row of carded Gundam Ultimate Operations trading figures.
